Naples Roof Replacement Contractors
Repair or Replacement?
One of the most frequently asked questions that we receive from homeowners is whether their roof needs to be replaced, or if a repair can extend the life of their roof. The only way this question can be accurately answered is through an in-person roofing inspection. There are several factors that need to be considered.
What is The Age of Your Roof?
Age is one of the most important considerations when deciding whether to repair or replace your roof. If you have a newer roof, and within the first several years you are noticing leaks or wet spots developing, then you know there is certainly an issue. A newly installed roof should be leaking, and can be a sign of improper installation. An older roof that is leaking can simply be a sign that it is nearing the end of its lifespan, and may require replacement from wear and tear or old age. An asphalt shingle roof should last about 20 years, while a metal roof can last 40 or 50 years!
Do You Have Damage To Your Roof?
Are you concerned that your roof needs to be replaced because of storm damage to your roof? Did a windstorm or hail storm crack or break the shingles or tiles on your roof? Did a tree branch fall through your roof?
After identifying whether you have storm damage to your roof, you will also want to inspect to see whether that damage is isolated to just one section or slope of your roof, or whether the entire roof is compromised. The more isolated the damage is, the more likely it can be repaired, while the more widespread the damage is the more likely the entire roof may need to be replaced.
Signs It May Be Time For a New Roof
Are you finding loose shingle granules clogging up your gutters? Did you find tiles or shingles sitting in your flowerbed or garden? These could be signs of both storm damage, or wear and tear on an old roof. As your shingle roof ages, the granules that protect the shingle will begin to fall off, exposing the shingle to the sun’s UV rays. Similarly, if you begin to spot curling or bruised shingles, or cracked tiles, a roof replacement may be required. A leaky roof tends to be one of the main symptoms or tell-tale signs that something isn’t right with your roofing system.
The Roof Replacement Process
1) Conduct Your Research
The first step you’ll want to take is researching and locating a Naples roofing company that you feel comfortable with to replace your roof. You’ll want to look for a contractor that has an impeccable track-record and 5-star reviews and ratings online.
2) Set Up An Inspection
We can have a roofing technician visit with you at your home, or business, and conduct a thorough roofing inspection to provide you with all of your options. A technician can discuss with you repair and replacement solutions. This inspection includes taking measurements and inspecting for all signs of storm damage or leak spots.
3) We’ll Provide You With a Roof Estimate
After your roofing inspection, our tech will review their discoveries, and then explain it in simplified terms and analysis. These findings will be the basis for our estimate & the proposed scope of work. The estimate is formulated based on the overall condition of your roof, the scope involved, any damage that will need to be repaired, material options and cost for labor and materials.
4) Agree on Terms & Sign Contract
After receiving your estimate you may want to take time to think over the estimate and write down any lingering questions that you still have. Perhaps you have more questions about materials, style, colors, project timeframe, etc. This is the time to discuss all of your concerns – and then mutually agreeing on them.
If you decide to go forward with the estimate that a roofing contractor provides you to replace the roof on your home, the roofer can then help you file all applicable paperwork in order to have the proper permits and meeting proper building codes for the roof replacement project.
6) Material Delivery
In order to install, and replace your new roof, the roofing contractor needs to have the materials! Prior to the job beginning, the supplies will be delivered to your home (or worksite).
7) Roof Replacement Commences
The work will begin to replace your roof. The time frame that it takes should have been discussed with you prior to starting. For instance, an asphalt shingle roof can take longer than a metal or tile roof. The time-frame is also contingent on the weather, as rain may require re-scheduling.
The roof replacement job is not completed until your yard, driveway and home is cleaned with a magnet and all debris is hauled away.
At this point, we will want to do a final walk-through with you to ensure that you are fully satisfied with both the work completed, and the clean-up. Before and after photos can help showcase the difference between your old roof, and your new beautiful roof!
